“We’re not really talking about a swimming story. We’re talking about a survival story”

A dolphin swam 43.5km to safety. It doesn’t sound that impressive at all, does it? But when you consider that this “dolphin” is actually former NFL Maimi Dolphins full back Rob Konrad, it is nothing short of remarkable.

According to The Independent, Konrad fell off his boat while fishing in south Florida. He swam for about 16 hours until he reached an oceanfront house in Palm Beach in the early hours of the morning. Konrad’s comment at a press conference in the US: “Happy to be here.”

This simply amazing against-the-odds story is summed up perfectly by endurance swimmer Diana Nyad: “We’re not really talking about a swimming story. We’re talking about a survival story.”
