Making a change: From Fatthew to Fitthew

Sometimes change is a good thing. It is — along with taxes and death, apparently — life’s only constant. And it’s time for me to make a change.

Inspired by Cleo, I have decided to change the focus of my health and fitness goals. Humour me as I give a brief background.

I was a fatty. Seriously. At just 169cm, I weighed in at 115kg. Since then I’ve dropped to 93kg — and want to, ultimately, drop to 85kg. I wrote about it a while ago, if you’re interested.

Since then, I’ve become less of a fatty — and that’s what has prompted the change in focus. I used the #LosingFatthew tag to keep track of my progress. But, as per Cleo’s suggestion, I’m going to alter it slightly. You see, it’s not much about what I’m losing now. It’s about what I’m finding.

So here it is, my new hashtag: #FindingFitthew.

As it would suggest, the plan is now to get fitter, to get stronger, to get more muscular and, yes, to continue losing some of the fat along the way. If you want to keep track, you can follow me on Twitter, Instagram and, if you use Nike+ you can find me there (user name: matthewsavides).
