Tiger attack at Gauteng circus

A tiger from a circus in Rietfontein, Joburg, escaped from its cage and attacked a circus worker, said Netcare911 spokesman Chris Botha.

In a press release sent out this morning, Botha said paramedics were called to the circus in Beyers Naude Drive at about 7.50am. A tiger, he said, had escaped from its enclosure.

“Exact detail as to how the tiger got out of the enclosure is still speculative at this stage,” said Botha.

“When (paramedics) arrived at the scene they found a man lying on the ground with severe bite wounds and lacerations to his neck and chest,” he added.
