Did you hear the one about the three men with 10 goats in their car? No, really. Did you hear about it? Because it actually happened.
Last week (yes, I know it’s a bit old, but it really amuses me so I’ll post it anyway) police in northern KwaZulu-Natal came across one of the most interesting cargos you can imagine.
Police spokesman Capt Thulani Zwane said in a statement: “Police were conducting patrols along Nongoma road when they stopped a suspiciouis motor vehicle with no registration number and with three occupants. Upon searching the vehicle, the (police) members found three goats in the back seat and seven in the boot.”
That’s right, goats. Ten of them. In the car.
Now I don’t know what they were thinking. Did they honestly think nobody would notice? Surely if you see someone with goats in their car you might get a little suspicious. As it turns out, according to Zwane, the men “could not give a reasonable account of how they had possession of the animals”. They have been arrested and appeared in court on a charge of being in possession of stolen property.
