SUBJECT : HEAVILY ARMED WOULD-BE HOUSEROBBERS NABBED
Heavily armed six men aged between 30 and 40 were today in the morning arrested in Sarnia Road, Rossburg, outside Durban. The arrest was a result of an intelligence driven operation involving the SAPS Durban K9 Dog Flying Squad. The members spotted the six suspects travelling along Sarnia Road in a bakkie and pulled them over. The members tactically approached the bakkie and upon searching it they found an R5 assault rifle, two R5 magazine and forty three live rounds of ammunition. Further search led to the recovery of a Norinco 9mm pistol with eight live rounds of ammunition inside the bakkie.
Information at the disposal of the SAPS indicate that the six suspects intend to commit a robbery in the residential area in Rossburgh. SAPS will proactively prevent and reduce such serious and violent crimes.
